The season continued for the Mineral County High softball team when they beat Carlin 12-11 in a winner-take-all tiebreaker game last Thursday in Smith Valley.
The win put the girls in the regional tournament the next day as the two seed where they kept the magic alive by knocking off top-seeded Coleville 17-9. The Lady Serpents jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead by the third inning and never looked back.
After their second game in 24 hours, the Lady Serpents had to gear up for a tough Wells team later on Friday afternoon, with the winner going to the title game and earning an automatic spot in the state tournament this weekend in Las Vegas. The Leopards came away with a 10-0 win and knocked Mineral County down to the loser’s bracket.
On Saturday the Lady Serpents played a hard fought game, but fell to Whittell 14-10, ending their season.
Wells went on to beat Whittell 10-0 in the title game.
Great season Lady Serpents!
