Mineral County residents joined together on Saturday, April 22 to celebrate Earth Day in Hawthorne.

Mineral County Cooperative Extension organized the event, bringing together ideas and people to celebrate a clean earth.

Vendors were on hand with items, a bounce house was set up for children and sno-cones and other goodies helped with the warm temperatures.

The cooperative extension had on-hand a plant exchange, SOC, LLC. provided giveaways in conjunction with Earth Day while music filled the air.

But, Earth Day also brought out huge piles of debris throughout the whole town. Earth Day also brings about the Community Clean-up Day, which at press time was still ongoing due to the volume of debris around town. The Hawthorne Dump was also open for a free dump day.

Each year, the cooperative extension urges people to come out and celebrate this event with them and learn what steps they can take to make their piece of earth a better place for themselves.
