17Recent 2015 Mineral County High School graduate Alexandria Plevney was one of 15 students to be awarded a scholarship from the Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Foundation.

This foundation awards scholarships to students who played high school baseball or softball, achieve academic excellence and have community and school spirit.

The $2,500 scholarship is made in the memory of Josh Anderson who was a 1991 graduate of Reno High School. He played baseball in Reno from Little League, Babe Ruth onto Reno High School and eventually at DeAnza College in Cupertino, Calif. He died on June 25, 1992 of Sudden Death Syndrome shortly after pitching in the University of Nevada, Reno summer baseball tournament.

In addition to the Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Foundation scholarship, Plevney was awarded numerous scholarships during the awards ceremony at graduation.
