Wallace Clark Dummar, age 85, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 following a brief illness.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Patty (Brown) Dummar; his son, Wallace Dummar Jr. and wife Sue; his son, Steve Dummar and wife Kitty; his son, David Dummar; his daughter, Brenda Stinson and husband Andy; his daughter Zelma Sparling and husband Steve; three brothers, two sisters, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Springdale, Utah on February 26, 1932, the son of Arnold and Chloe (Winder) Dummar.
After briefly serving in the Army Reserves, Wally moved his family to Gabbs, Nev. where they lived for 51 years. For most of his career, he ran and operated all types of heavy equipment. For 26 years, he worked at the Basic Mine in the pit, as a heavy equipment operator and eventually worked his way up to being the pit boss before going to the FMC Gold Mine, where he would eventually retire from the mining industry. For a very short time, he also worked at the NV Test Site located in Mercury, Nev. in his early years.
He loved taking his family on vacations during the summer. He also enjoyed spending his spare time with his family taking them camping, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Oasis Assembly of God Church.
It was in 2009 that Wally and Patty decided to call Hawthorne home.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gunter’s Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Oasis Assembly of God with graveside services immediately following.
