Donna Sue Shramek, 69, passed from this world into the tender arms of Jesus April 2, 2017.
She was born Feb. 25, 1948 in Marion, Kansas the daughter of Leonard and Elva Holub.
Donna grew up in Marion, Kansas, a sensitive young girl with a surprising stubborn streak. She and her siblings shared the hard work and early hours of milking cows and other duties that came with living on a farm. Donna attended Centre High School, and upon graduating in 1966, enrolled in beauty school in Wichita, Kansas. During that time, she dated and then married her husband, Gene. Not long after, the couple moved to Nevada where Donna worked at Olive’s Beauty Shop in Smith Valley. It was ideal work for Donna as she both loved visiting with people and loved things of beauty, whether it was hummingbirds or great hair styles.
In the late 1980’s, Donna began working as a custodian at Smith Valley Schools, where she cherished the people who were her co-workers and took time to visit with students of all ages. She also helped with her family’s feed business in Placerville, Calif. Following her husband’s call to serve God in the Baptist Church, she spent two and a half years in beautiful Ione, Nevada and the past ten years in Schurz, Nev., whose people she loved.
Donna was a beautiful woman both inside and out. Despite many hardships and the sickness that consumed her, she remained a kind and generous spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gene Shramek; her sons: Edmund Shramek, James Shramek, and Scott Shramek; her brother, Pat Holub, and sister, Doris Maltbie. She was also “Mamo” to six grandsons and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Holub, her mother, Elva Holu, and her brother, Mike Holub.
