Mineral County Sheriff’s Office conducted an alcohol identification compliance check in the Hawthorne area of Mineral County.

The check was completed on March 23 with help from Deputies Jeff Peebles and Julie Redmond of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and three minor volunteers.

The group went to 15 Hawthorne locations. Employees at six of the businesses listed in the press release from the sheriff’s office sold alcoholic beverages to the minors. Five employees were cited and one juvenile employee was warned for sales/providing alcohol to a minor.

Those businesses that had no sales to a minor were: Barley’s Bar (bartender – Cassie Dore’); Dollar General (clerk – Marie Saxon); El Capitan Casino (bartender – Sally Reilly); Golden Gate (clerk – Andoni Pittman); Gil’s Place (bartender – Stewart Fowler); Safeway Market (checkers: David House and Alfonso Castillo-Trujillo); Shell (clerk – Jaspreet Sabharwal); Sinclair (clerk – Shiva) and 76/Bill’s Food Mart (clerk – Becki Bowers).

The establishments that did sell alcohol to minors are as follows: Chevron (clerk – Rajinder Kaur) citation issued; Clark’s Liquor (clerk – Sandra Mattson) citation issued; Joe’s (clerk – Lisa Blondin) citation issued; Joseph’s Market (clerk – Balgev Singh) citation issued and Pizza Factory (employee – Lareet Landa) citation issued.

Old Nevada Pizza was also caught in the sting. No employee is listed due to being underage, but the press release states, “The business owner, who was not present during the sale, was warned regarding minors serving alcoholic beverages.”
