Warren Gene Loberg went to his heavenly home on Friday, Feb. 24 at the age of 82. Gene, as most of us knew him, was born Jan. 8, 1935 in St. Paul, Minn. to Elmer and Hanes Loberg who preceded him in death.
Gene is survived by his brothers: Robert Loberg of St. Paul, Minn. and Doug Loberg of Harlingen, Texas; four children: Richard (Diana) Loberg, Linda (Bob) Casey, David (Donna) Lobert and Diane (Rick) Bratten and many grandchildren and friends.
Gene moved to Sparks where his parents ran a motel. During this time he worked in a casino and then worked in the real estate business until his retirement. After having lived in the Reno area for 45 years, Gene moved to his home in Hawthorne for the past 11 years.
While in Hawthorne, he enjoyed his daily visits to the Care and Share for lunch and going to church on Sunday. Potluck’s were a favorite time of his, never turning down a take home bag for later.
The family would like to thank Gene’s friends who came by and visited with him: the staff of Mt. Grant General Hospital, Marlene Bunch and the members of Bethany Lutheran Church for their support of Gene through these final days.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Mar. 5 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 204 C St, Hawthorne at 1 p.m. A luncheon will be served following the service for all to share their memories of this fellow that had a contagious smile. All are welcome to join and share your memories.
