Long time Hawthorne resident Donna Kovacs passed away on Dec. 18 in Sparks surrounded by her family.
Donna was born on Dec. 21, 1943 to Clair and Sabina Turley in Hawthorne at the old pink hospital. Donna attended school in Hawthorne and graduated from MCHS with the class of 1961. She attended beauty school in Utah before she married Michael S. Kovacs in the Mesa Arizona Temple on Dec. 12, 1964. Together Donna and Mike raised 13 children.
In 2010 Donna retired from the Hawthorne Army Depot after 22 years. After retiring she spent as much time as she could with her family. She loved to keep busy knitting, crocheting, reading, watching movies and doing crossword puzzles. Donna was a very strong woman with a deep faith and love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in her family, church and community. Donna was a great example to all around her.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband, four siblings and their spouses, 13 children and their spouses, 40 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren along with many members of her extended family who loved her very much.
Services will be held at the LDS Church on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016. There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m.
