YCAC to begin holding boxing classes

Mineral County Park and Recreation/YCAC have announced that a boxing class will be held at the YCAC (589 C Street). The classes run Monday through Thursday for children 8-14, adults 15 and up and private lessons.

signups underway for youth basketball

YCAC basketball signups are now underway. Group practive begins Monday, Nov. 28 at the YCAC. Ages four to eighth grade are welcome to sign up. Contact 945-3377 for more details. Volunteers are also needed.

 

Mina Care and Share bazaar saturday

Everyone is invited to this year’s Mina Care and Share bazaar fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It’s a bake-sale and lunch with a variety of cakes, cookies and goodies. Hot dogs, chili and soft drinks will be available for lunch. Mina Seniors create great sweets and we have fun. Y’all come, ya hear!

 

Rocket Pride Family Literacy Night tonight

The Rocket Pride Family Literacy Night will take place tonight at 6 p.m. at the Hawthorne Elementary Multipurpose Room.

Nachos will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. when parents are encouraged to go to their children’s classrooms and learn a skill that will help their children at home.

Two swag baskets are up for raffle and each child will receive a free book, if they attend the literacy night.

 

Mad Hatters to meet Saturday

The Mad Hatters enjoyed a Halloween theme for the October gathering. The November gathering will have a harvest theme. The meeting will be on the third Saturday rather than our regular date so that we don’t interfere with any Thanksgiving traveling plans.

We hope to see you at Maggie’s at 9 a.m. on Nov. 19.

 

Boy Scouts food drive tomorrow

The annual Scouting For Food drive, sponsored by the Boy Scouts in Mineral County, will be held on Friday, Nov. 18. Non-perishable food such as: canned meat; canned fish; nuts; peanut butter; dry pasta; baby formula; soups; stews; canned fruit and juice; oatmeal and rice are requested. Please, no glass jars or frozen items.

All food donations stay local by going to the local CAHS office after pick-up. If you have items, please place your bag outside no later than 9 a.m. Collection will go until noon. If unable to place items outside – donations can be made to the CAHS office at 924 Fifth Street.
