The Mineral County High football team hit the road for its season opening game last Friday night and fell to Tonopah 68-22.

The Serpents raced out to an early 14-6 lead in the first quarter, but couldn’t contain the Muckers offense after that. Tonopah blanked the visitors offense in the second quarter, and outscored the Serpents 46-8 in the second half.

Much of the Tonopah scoring came on the ground as the home team rushed for eight touchdowns, including three each by Vincent Bagarose and Kade Bunker.

Mineral County will enjoy a bye week this week before hosting Wells in their home opener on Sept. 9.
