In order to better serve the youth of Mineral County, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley is opening a new site in Hawthorne, bringing a slew of summer programs to the region.

Located on the corner of Ninth and D Streets, the new location will open for summer registration on Wednesday, May 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. with additional registration times on May 27 and 31. Children can be registered for the entire summer for $180 per one child, $270 for two children or $360 for the whole family. Visitors can also register for weekly programs for $20 per child, with any additional child registered for $10. Daily registration costs $5 per child. Financial assistance and internal scholarships will also be offered to families in need.

The Hawthorne summer program begins Tuesday, May 31 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature many of the activities found at the Yerington location, such as art programs, the comprehensive health and wellness program Triple Play and the preventive SMART Moves program that teaches kids how to abstain from drug and alcohol use. Additionally, the Hawthorne location will offer free breakfast and lunch to members under the age of 18 every day.

In order to run the new club, the Boys & Girls Clubs Mason Valley seeks three new part time staff to assist in implementing the programs in Hawthorne. To inquire about the openings, call (775) 463-2334.
