Nancy Black, former Mineral County Commissioner, has been appointed to fill the position that was left vacant after the passing of Clifford Cichowlaz on March 18.
Black is a former two-term commissioner who ran against Cichowlaz in 2012 in a positive campaign that ended with the late commissioner thanking Black for her duties to the county after the primary election, which he won.
Besides being a former commissioner, Black is familiar with the operations of county government, having retired from the Mineral County Recorder/Auditor office with 20 years of service.
Her appointment was effective on April 12 by Governor Brian Sandoval. She attended her first meeting on April 20.
Black resides in Hawthorne, a town she shares with her family and friends.
