A physical domestic dispute on New Year’s Eve ends with a Hawthorne man spending the new year in jail.

On Dec. 31, Mineral County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute. Upon arrival, James Christie, Jr., age 38, of Hawthorne, was found to be involved in the dispute and for being the primary aggressor.

Further investigation by deputies led to the discovery that Christie had physically battered his live in girlfriend as well as her two children.

It was concluded that Christie, Jr. would not allow the victims to leave or to contact law enforcement.

In a press release from Sheriff Randy Adams, it stated, “Christie, Jr. was arrested and booked in the Mineral County Jail on battery; domestic violence – third offense; child abuse; kidnapping – second degree and false imprisonment.”

Bail for Christie, Jr. has been set at $315,000.

The release concluded, “The names of the victims will not be released.”
