Volunteers from all around Nevada and California, including: Nevada Bighorns Unlimited and Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) completed a guzzler build in the vicinity of Rhyolite Pass in the Gillis Range located in Mineral County.
“These guzzlers can supply animals with much needed water. I have seen the thunderstorms that you [Mineral County] get in the summer. One inch of rain can supply the guzzler with 2,500 gallons of much needed water,” said Eddy Willis, NDOW employee.
With 63 volunteers, the guzzler was built in record time and is the only one of many located within the county. The water supplied not only provides water to Nevada’s state animal, the desert bighorn, but also to small animals, birds and larger mammals such as deer and antelope.
