Rebecca Boak of Las Mesitas, Colo. passed away on Dec. 12 on her 73rd birthday. She was a resident of Hawthorne from 1962 to 1979, where she married Eugene Boak, raised their six children, taught 3rd- and 4th- grades, and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. She retired from teaching in 2004  in Los Lunas, N.M. She valued family, and lived for the last several years with her youngest daughter in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Boak, son Walter Boak, and daughter Cheryl Bolton. She is survived by her children Darla and Dale Paynter of Surprise, Ariz., Mardell Talaga, Loyda and Michael Timmins of Vancouver, Wash., and Lori and Stan Cunningham of Mesa, Ariz., grandchildren Cari, Heather, Tim, DJ, Rio, Gina, Melissa, Steven, Corina, Jared, and Zachary, and great-grandchildren Holly, Phillip, Cheryl, Emma, Bellagrace, and Denver, six sisters, one brother, brothers and sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be going home to Colorado, and a celebration of her Life will be held on  July 19 at the historic San Rafael Presbyterian Church in Mogote, Colo. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the historic San Rafael Presbyterian Church, care of M. Garcia 33688 Hwy 17 Antonito, CO 81120, for its continued restoration and maintenance.
