In what is described as the “Longest Off-Road Race in America,” the desert was screaming last weekend when Casey Folks brought his Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race through Mineral County.

This year was just as exciting as years’ past, but mother nature decided to help out the spectators by throwing in many wash outs and ruts that caused problems with not only motorcycles and quads, but also the trucks and truggy’s.

This event could not happen without the volunteers in each count and this year, Mineral County’s volunteers were exceptional. From the Nye County line to the Churchill County and Nye County lines, volunteers covered each pit, road crossing and did recovery of stuck or broken racers.

Folks has been quoted as saying, “Life is an adventure – live your life with the Best in the Desert” and Mineral County has done just that.
