On the evening of April 4, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy stood on the bed of a flatbed truck to address a rally in Indianapolis. He had to break the news to the crowd that Martin Luther King had been shot and killed. 

He only spoke for 6 minutes. Read the full speech here. Here’s part of what he said: 

My favorite poet was Aeschylus. He wrote: ‘In our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God.’

What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence or lawlessness, but is love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice towards those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.

Good words today as we digest the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, killed at the hands of a sniper, believed to be the man pictured below. 

Based on what the FBI has released so far, along with this picture, it won’t be long before the killer is apprehended. 


Last Words

Here are Charlie Kirk’s last words.

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?” an audience member asked.

“Too many,” Kirk responded to applause from the crowd.

The attendee informed him that the total was five and continued: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”

“Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk replied.

Seconds later, he was struck by the bullet and fell from his chair.

The timing of the shot, coupled with the inscriptions found on the bullet casings, seems eerily coincidental.

We have some very sick individuals in this country who have been sucked into the dehumanizing rhetoric used against conservatives over the last decade. I fear for our country going forward, knowing there are a growing number of Americans out there who think it’s OK to use violence to silence political speech.

  • The Carolina Panthers fired a staffer for a post on social media. Charlie Rock, above, the Panthers’ football communications coordinator, was axed after posting “why are yall sad?”
  • PHNX Sports has sacked Gerald Bourguet, above, for his remarks made in the wake of Kirk’s assassination. Bourguet angered fans with several posts after Kirk’s death. “Political differences are not the same thing as spewing hateful rhetoric on a daily basis, and refusing to mourn a life devoted to that cause is not the same thing as celebrating gun violence. Just so we’re 100% clear on that. If you’re saddened by today’s ‘political violence, horrified by the video, or repulsed by my response, ask yourself why your reaction was different when it came to school shootings, mass deportations or the HUNDREDS of videos of horrific murders in Gaza (which Kirk cheered on).
  • MSNBC has fired Matthew Dowd, a political analyst whose on-air comments after Charlie Kirk’s death drew criticism. During a back-and-forth with the MSNBC anchor Katy Tur on Wednesday, Mr. Dowd remarked that Mr. Kirk had been pushing hate speech, adding that “hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions.” — NYTimes
  • Secret Service Agent under fire over Facebook post, above, Targeting Charlie Kirk.
  • At a vigil for Charlie Kirk, a Seattle college professor said, “I support Charlie Kirk’s killer. He did us a favor; I would have killed him myself.” 
  • Rep. Jamie Raskin, a leading spokesman for Democrats, smirks and shrugs when asked about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. 
  • This was one of the most disgusting and evil things that I’ve ever seen. Just before we learned Charlie had passed, we tried to lead a prayer on the House floor – praying for his recovery after he was tragically shot. The Democrats started booing and yelling at us. It was absolutely disgusting. Their rhetoric caused this, and their actions today show they have no remorse!!! — Rep. Ronnie Jackson
  • Miami anesthesiologist Dr. Tatiana N. Atkins, who works at Larkin Community Hospital, says she is glad Charlie Kirk got himself shot. 
  • Students at UT Austin are asked about their feelings about Charlie Kirk getting killed. Their answers are horrid. One says they’re happy, another says it’s good, one says someone had to do it, and one even says they wouldn’t have saved him. These students are lost. — Paul Szypula on X

  • The Assistant Dean of Students at Middle Tennessee State University has been FIRED effective immediately after she celebrated Charlie Kirk’s passing away.

  • Canadian leftist Devon Cassidy, who worked at @legalaidbc, has been fired. She posted a video of herself hysterically laughing and celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk. Legal Aid BC has released a statement calling her now a “former employee.” — Andy Ngo on X
  • Las Vegas REALTORS says an incoming director for its board of directors has now been removed following comments made on social media regarding the deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk. “Las Vegas REALTORS® is aware of divisive comments being attributed to one or more of our members on social media this week following the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk,” the association said. The association’s President, George Kypreos, said they are aware of the comments made by Mark Sivek. He was an incoming director for the board of directors next year. — Fox5LV
  • DC comics cancels new series the same day it launches, after writer & transgender activist, above, ‘celebrates’ Kirk’s death.
  • A Florida teacher has been suspended immediately after celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination online. She wrote on Facebook: “This may not be the obituary we were all hoping to wake up to, but this is a close second for me.” After outrage spread, State Senator Jennifer Bradley contacted the Superintendent, calling the teacher’s behavior “egregious.” Clay County Schools confirmed Brock-Sanchez was removed from the classroom pending a full investigation.
  • A Trantifa teacher at Lakevue Elementary School in the Vallivue School District in Caldwell, Idaho has been allowed to resign after he celebrated the killing of Charlie Kirk. Tyler Johnson uses the trans name Phoenix Davaroux and performs in drag as “Aunt Tifa” (Antifa). The WSJ reports that the rifle cartridges used in the killing have trans and Antifa inscriptions, according to an internal ATF memo.
