The Reno Rodeo Foundation is accepting applications for its 2025 scholarship program now through Friday, Mar. 28. With a longstanding commitment to supporting higher education in Northern Nevada, the foundation will award more than $150,000 in scholarships this year, including two newly established awards honoring community leaders.

The Tom Dolan Scholarship, established in memory of Tom Dolan’s dedication to the community, will provide $10,000 annually to students pursuing degrees in business. The Guy Clifton Scholarship, created to recognize the lasting impact of journalist Guy Clifton, will award $10,000 annually to students studying journalism or related fields.

Since 1986, the Reno Rodeo Foundation has supported hundreds of Northern Nevada students in their pursuit of higher education. Scholarships are available to high school graduates and college students from Northern Nevada who plan to enroll in an accredited Nevada college, university, or trade/career/vocational school. Students pursuing a major not offered in Nevada may also apply for funding to attend an out-of-state institution. Additional consideration is given to applicants who are current or former foster youth, as well as those with involvement in 4-H, FFA, Grange, or rodeo programs.

The Reno Rodeo Foundation’s scholarship program is made possible in part by proceeds from the Rodeo State License Plate, as well as community donations, which can be designated specifically for scholarships. In addition to foundation-funded scholarships, the organization administers donor-funded awards, including the Al Evans Silver Spurs Scholarship, providing a meaningful way for individuals and organizations to directly impact the educational journeys of local students. Every dollar contributed to a donor-funded scholarship goes directly to the student(s) who are awarded the scholarship, ensuring maximum impact and investment in their education.

Those interested in establishing a scholarship through the Reno Rodeo Foundation are invited to contact Cheree Boteler, Executive Director, at 775.322.9875 or cheree@renorodeofoundation.org.
