A neighborhood just south of San Rafael Park in Reno was sent mail ballots reflecting incorrect races after a miscategorization during the most recent redistricting process.
The Washoe County Registrar’s Office acknowledged the error in a press release on Tuesday and said they will send a letter to affected voters in the 5020 precinct explaining the situation, as well as corrected ballots.
The registrar’s office found the discrepancy during an audit, which the office conducts regularly. Once an issue is identified, the office contacts the secretary of state’s office, which will then notify affected voters by mail.
The county requests voters who believe there is a discrepancy in their sample or mail ballot to notify the registrar’s office.
When a new ballot is issued, any previous versions are invalidated and will not be counted if sent in.
