The boys varsity basketball team won three games last week to remain tied in the conference with an 8-1 record. The Serpents cruised by Excel 64-32, Coleville 52-7 and Whittell 91-24.
This week will be a very tough schedule for the boys and will probably determine the seeding for the west regional tournament that will decide the two teams that will advance to the state tournament.
On Tuesday, Jan 30, the Serpents hosted Smith Valley, who has one loss in the conference courtesy of the Serpents. On Thursday, the team will travel to Pyramid Lake for two games. Friday, February 2 will be a rematch against Virginia City in Hawthorne. Virginia City gave the Serpents their only conference loss, 65-55, in which the Muckers outscored the Serpents by 14 points at the free throw line.
The Serpents can control their own destiny to be the number one seed at regionals. They just have to win out to finish the conference at No. 1.
