Halfway through the 1A west conference standings the Serpents boys are tied at the top with a 5-1 record with Virginia City and Smith Valley. The Serpents will face both teams at home in two weeks, Jan. 30 against Smith Valley and Feb. 2 against Virginia City which could determine the first seed in the regional tournament.
Team defense continues to be the strong point for the Serpents success. The team is averaging 8.5 steals per game with their full court pressure. Leading scores for the Serpents are DeVayne Isom, 19.0, and Triston Jones, 16.0. Assist leaders are DeVayne Isom with 5.7, and Andrew Stinson, 4.1. Rebounding has been done by committee. Jaevaun Jones with 5.7 per game, DeVayne Isom, 5.1, and Tristin Jones with 4.0.
The strong bench has contributed to the team’s success in all areas. They are led by Quentin Isom, Jaeden Majand, and Robert Wilson. The speed and tenacity of our defense and offense requires a solid eight to nine person rotation. Fortunately the Serpents carry a full thirteen player squad.
The Serpents will host Coleville this Friday night Jan. 26. The game begins at 4:30 p.m. and the gym will be open at 2 for a basketball fundraiser. All teams will be shooting free throws to raise money for travel and tournaments. The concession stand will be opened by the Booster Club during the event and of course the games.
The Serpents boys want to thank the wonderful Booster Club as they paid for rooms at the Nugget for the Railroad Classic over the Christmas holidays.
GO SERPENTS!!!
