Dear Editor,
Mineral County Residents who are having problems with their Peace of Mind being Stolen by their neighbor’s barking dog(s), they’ll be glad to know there is a “Barking Dog Ordinance” designed to prevent such disturbances: https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/mineralcountynv/latest/mineral_nv/0-0-0-1556
Stating: 1. To habitually howl, bark or in any other manner disturb the peace and quietude of the community or of any person within the county, and such conduct on the part of any animal is a public nuisance; … The sheriff, his deputies or the animal control officer shall immediately institute abatement proceedings upon having received a written complaint that an animal is in violation of this section.” Resolving the Problem benefits you and your neighbors “Peace of Mind.” Dog owner(s) need to realize they’re breaking the Law by not monitoring and ‘quieting their dog(s)’.
The Mineral County Website also provides a “Nuisance Complaint” form you can fill out online, anonymously if you’d like, to report a variety of Community issues needing attention. http://mineralcountynv.us/departments/nuisance_complaint.php
The Quality of Living Standards in our Communities matters. Whether it’s neighbors polluting the air with needless noise of barking dogs, revving their quads, playing music too loudly, or burning toxic materials, etc., if you’ve tried communicating the problem to them, some will ‘get it’ and correct their behavior, others won’t, in which case you can use this form to Help Inform the Sheriff Officials and other City/County Workers to know, so they can ‘take care of it’.
Doing a ‘search’ online, regarding “Ethical problem, dog owners letting their dogs bark” you’ll find a number of similar issues people have with this phenomenon, even Reader’s Digest speaks directly to it and more in the article,”14 Rude Habits Dog Owners Need to Stop ASAP”.
Posting the Ordinance on your local Community Boards might help. IF dog owners realize they’re Disturbing your Peace, they might monitor their dog(s) better. Those who don’t care and knowingly continue to break the Law, that’s on them, it’s not your responsibility to carry the burden, inform the Officials so they can do their Job.
For a Better Today and Tomorrow!
