Ride or die with Biden, Trump?

Properly Subversive
It won’t be long before people set about to stump the state seeking Nevada’s vote for president. They’ll mostly fly into Reno or Las Vegas. Very few will find their way to Ely, Elko or Hawthorne. None will make it to Eureka, I am sorry to report.
The big question for Democrats is something I’ve written about before – Can they risk going into the 2024 election with Joe Biden, who is falling apart before our eyes. Whether he can make it to winter is a very real question, not to mention whether he can make it to the end of this second term. Statistics say he won’t, which will shine a spotlight on Kamala Harris like no other VP in history.
Are Democrats really going to ride or die with Joe Biden? Here are three reasons why they should take a pass on that idea.
THE BORDER
Team Biden has bungled our southern border in spectacular fashion. An estimated 7 million illegal aliens have crossed our border on their watch. We simply let them in and now have no idea where they are. Biden has taken the ongoing border mess to new levels of unaccountability.
COVID
More than a million Americans died of the COVID virus and the Biden Administration has yet to extract a single admission from China as to its responsibility in the outbreak. It’s as if we don’t want to know. Was the U.S. government also complicit in the gain-of-function virus? Our government is suspiciously lethargic in finding accountability for COVID.
AFGHANISTAN
Like COVID, the Biden Administration has refused to take any kind of blame in its bungling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan. President Biden himself lied straight up to Americans during the withdrawal, leaving thousands of citizens and supporters behind. That alone should earn him a no vote from every veteran in America. His execution of the withdrawal left massive supplies of arms in Kabul. A president who can’t take responsibility for his own actions is doomed to repeat them.
Now, I know there’s more to worry about. The interest rates … gas prices … food inflation comes immediately to mind. But even if Joe Biden were in the picture of health, the three big things that argue against another Biden term are the border, COVID and Afghanistan. If he ever comes to a town in which a Battle Born Newspaper serves, we’ll try to pin him down,
In the meanwhile, Democrats: Please find a better candidate.
ET TU, GOP?
By the time this column gets into print, Donald Trump will likely have been indicted for the fourth time. This time in Atlanta for election tampering. I pretty much have the same advice for Republicans on Trump as I do Democrats on Biden – seriously? Why put Trump in when you have a stronger player like Ron DeSantis on the bench?
ONE MORE THING
– Social media has taught me a couple of things. First, there are some incredibly brilliant people in the world. Secondly, they are vastly outnumbered.
– I was going to cook alligator stew for dinner, but I only had a croc pot.
– My 4-year-old spilled cereal and I told her to pick it up. She called the dog. There is nothing left for me to teach her.
– After fixing my computer, I heard my grandson tell a friend that it was an “ID TEN T error.” They both laughed. Not wanting to sound dumb, I walked away and wrote down the phrase: “ID10T error.’ He never was my favorite grandkid, anyway.
– What doesn’t kill me … isn’t trying very hard. I’ve already done half the work.
Thanks for reading and for once again putting up with my lame jokes. Until next week, avoid knuckleheads, laugh a little and always question authority.
