Deputies from the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office arrested two women on Sunday that were wanted in connection with an Oregon murder.

A 52-year-old man was found dead at a campsite in Oregon’s Tillamook State Forest while a Tillamook deputy was making routine visits to the state forest’s campsites, the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office said. The deputy also found the man’s barking dog tied to a nearby tree.

According to reports, Alyssa Sturgill, 40, and Lisa Peaslee, 41, were identified as persons of interest in the case after learning they were also living in their car at the same location where the victim was found. Their car was located nearby the scene.

Detectives found spent cartridges at the scene and determined the man had been shot and his light blue 2002 Toyota Sienna minivan stolen.

An alert was sent out to western U.S. law enforcement to be on the lookout for the women and the vehicle. The pair was arrested on possession of driving a stolen vehicle when they were stopped in Mineral County Sunday and held without bail.

On Monday, a judge in Tillamook County signed arrest warrants for the women on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree theft. They are expected to be extradited back to Tillamook County this week.
