The Serpents did something they haven’t done much of his season in its Homecoming game against Round Mountain – throw the ball. The strategy paid off for Mineral County as they won their game last Friday night, 38-14.
Quarterback Chase Reeves had a season-high 20 passing attempts, throwing for 232 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The freshman also ran for two touchdowns on eight carries for 79 yards.
Drake Spanier led all receivers with 142 yards on four catches and a touchdown, while Devayne Isom and Cade Torres each caught a touchdown pass as well. Torres also had 16 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Spanier had a big game on the defensive side with two interceptions, while Preston Larramendy had 16 tackles and a pick.
It was the second straight win for the Serpents who lost their first four of the year. The team travels to Pahranagat Valley (4-2) Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
