At 12:15 p.m. on the afternoon of August 23, Hawthorne resident Wilda Richelle Christopher left work to meet a friend for lunch and never showed up. Her cell phone and purse were left at her house, which prompted someone she knew to put out a missing person report through the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office put out a poster that circulated with the information on her vehicle and medical conditions.

The following evening, Christopher was found safe and sound. It is unclear what triggered her disappearance or where she was found.

When asked about the case by the Independent-News, the sheriff’s office refused to comment.
