It has been three years since the last Mineral County Sportsmen’s Club banquet, but last weekend, the tables came out, the mounts went up, the food was great, the drinks were cheap, the prizes were plenty, and most of all, the pockets were deep!!! And a great time was had by all!
Had Covid not interrupted us, we would be celebrating a decade straight of this fine event, however, this served as our 8th annual” banquet instead. And what a banquet it was! As a fundraising activity, we exceeded our previous best for funds raised in a single night by nearly one third. For a small community such as Hawthorne, the fundraising effort was outstanding.
Regardless of how many fundraisers our community is faced with, they never cease to amaze me in their efforts. In short, we are a very giving community, and that in itself deserves recognition of the highest kind. In addition, this year we were able to entice numerous people from surrounding communities to join in the efforts. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the local and non-local members for being committed to attending the event.
