Apple picking, applesauce, and homemade apple pie… this fall fruit makes a sweet alternative treat to high-calorie candies during the Halloween season.

At just 90 calories per whole fruit, apples are a nutrition-packed, low-calorie snack. With the peel, apples are a great source of fiber- important for healthy digestion, and they contain the antioxidant vitamin C which helps fight cell-damaging free radicals in the body.

Want to eat more apples? Try:

  • Slicing an apple and enjoy with peanut butter.
  • Spreading apple butter on a wholegrain cracker.
  • Sipping apple cider.
  • Making applesauce at home.
  • Using apples in your salads for an extra boost of nutrition.

Apples are in season now… so go ahead and enjoy “An Apple a Day”!
