Mineral County Library just completed another successful Summer Reading Program. Many people helped to make the program fun and exciting. At the top of the list are the Friends of the Library who supply funds that purchase books, craft supplies, and prizes for readers. The prize wheel that featured prizes of books, book bags, treasure chest picks, movies and more was a big favorite for all ages. Some adult patrons decided to get their own reading log and start reading just so that they could spin that prize wheel. Friends’ funds paid for the popular pool passes from Mineral County Parks & Recreation and the kids’ cones from Mr. Beane’s. Thank you Parks and Rec and Mr. Beane’s for the discounted prices offered to the library! You have been wonderful and generous partners!
The library’s Summer Reading Program helps children to keep up their reading skills so that they don’t experience “summer slide.” And summer reading can make wonderful memories!
All staff members helped to facilitate the summer program, but Matthew Golling and Kathy Kachelries were especially involved with the crafting sessions and puppet shows (with help from volunteer readers Debra Mundt and Jan Heater – thank you!) Thanks to the whole team for your enthusiasm and patience.
Lastly, thank you to all the participants; we enjoyed helping you have a fun summer. We have lots planned through the fall, winter, and spring so keep in touch.
