Jerad Dore’, a 2019 Mineral County High School graduate has been invited to represent Nevada (and his hometown of Hawthorne) at the 2019 Track and Field events at the Down Under Sports tournament in Australia.
Dore’ is a gold medal winner of the high jump at this year’s state track and field championship held in Las Vegas. Dore’ jumped a height of 5 foot 11 inches to take home the gold. With his teammates, Dore’ also took gold in the 4×200 meter relay.
His coach, Phil Jaramillo, referred to Dore’ as a beast when he would compete in the high jump events. Dore’ jumped a personal best of 6 foot 3 inches just two inches short of the Mineral County High School record of 6 foot 5 inches.
Down Under Sports was founded in February 1989 upon the dream of New Zealander George O’Scanlon who had fallen into love with American football as a young man. Down Under Sports’ goal is to continue to provide athletes who excel in sports the opportunity to experience the culture, beauty and grandeur of the “land down under’ within the framework of spirited and intense competition.
