Donnie Roy Lininger passed away Dec. 3 after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.
He moved to Hawthorne when he was six years old with his dad (Donald Lininger), his mother (Aletha Lininger) and his brother (Monte Lininger). His younger brother (Clarence Lininger) was born later in Hawthorne. Donnie graduated from Mineral County High School in 1963.
He spent most of his life driving; he hauled explosives for the base, drove a patrol car as a sergeant for the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and as constable. After he retired he drove the school bus for the Mineral County School District.
With his wife (Susan Lininger) he drove thousands of miles through 48 of the 50 states. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his children: Donald Lininger (Kristina); Paul Lininger (Betty); John Richardson (Miki); Kelley Kichenmaster (David) and Kimberly Harnes (Sean); 22 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He will be missed.
Donnie requested that there be no services so the family is honoring his request.
