Poll workers in Mineral County were hard at work throughout the day on Tuesday during the primary election.

Mineral County voters showed up to cast their votes at this year’s primary election. As reported by Mineral County Clerk Chris Nepper, 40.62 percent of the county voters showed up to make sure their voices were heard.

One of the largest races on the local front would be the republican candidate for Mineral County Commissioner – Seat C. Christine Hoferer beat out the other opponents, who will now face off against Mike Guss (DEM) this fall. Non-Partisan candidate Norman Williams informed the Independent-News that he had withdrawn his name from the ballot for the November election.

The state office of Nevada Governor had contestants airing commercials and hitting the Armed Forces Day parade in hopes to grab some rural votes.

Steve Sisolak (DEM) and Adam Laxalt (REP) will begin their campaign for governor.
