A few Mineral County residents met up in California at the beginning of January for the Ultimate Arm Wrestling League II event.

The tournament started on Saturday, Jan. 6 with Dan Moss competing in the Pro 0-165 Class. This was a stacked class with many national champions. Moss took fifth place.

Billie Williams, Todd Wright, Carlos Hernandez and Moss competed on Sunday in the amateur and master’s classes.

Unfortunately, Moss broke his arm in the opening match. Those in attendance sated that he “handled it like a pro that he is and settled everyone down before his ride to the hospital.”

Wright would square up in a deep class of amateurs. A quick win against a surprisingly much bigger opponent with his speed and strength. He would take fifth in an eleven man class.

Hernandez competed in the left hand class as his right hand is still recovering from an injury. He started off with a loss but came back with a win. He would take fourth against the tough competition.

Williams would end the tournament third in the master’s class.
