On Oct. 26, the Head Start team of Schurz opened up the gym with scary decorations, a bounce house and various game booths for attendees to enjoy “Spook Nite”. An enchilada dinner was being served, while candy and baked goods were available for purchase.
Various entertainment included games, while high school student, Diego Pittman, represented the Mineral County School Board’s booth. He performed his Indian Hoop Dance at periodic intervals for the children and adults.
A cake walk was the center of attention, providing a numbered circle in which participants would walk to the music, then stop on a number only to win if that number had been drawn. Costumed kids to adults also participated in a character contest which was divided by age groups. Those in winning costumes received selected prizes for the funniest, the most unique and the scariest.
Many families attended as themed groups with everything from “Superman and Friends” to Captain Hook’s story crew. Ninja Turtles met princesses, monsters visited with witches and even Jack in the Box showed up.
This evening put the fun in fundraising.
