In 2006 the Kenny Bostic Memorial Youth Athletic Fund was started to both honor Kenny, who was killed while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq and to help our local children participate in youth sports.

Since its inception, the “Kenny Board” has helped almost every type of organized youth sports in Mineral County. The fund has contributed to our local high school football players to attend training camp and to the cheerleaders to hold their own cheer camp. Contributions were made to the youth football/cheer, youth soccer and the Hawthorne swim team. Funds were provided to help teams travel to tournaments.

They have also purchased shoes for individuals and paid entry fees for children who did not have the means to pay themselves. Well over $50,000 has been donated in this community to help kids play.

The board of the “Kenny Fund” cannot do this on our own and need the support of our community. On Nov. 4, starting at 6 p.m., a fundraiser dinner of cippino or jambalaya will be held. Entertainment will be provided by The Utility Players, an improv group out of Reno as well as some great prizes will be awarded. The dinner/show is $50 per person or $75/couple and raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.

Tickets are available by calling 775-229-6982.
