“When you’ve been in the tire business for over 28 years, it would be difficult to consider any other line of work but tires,” Tracy Larramendy shared. With the newly opened Great Basin Tire company located at 1005 5th Street in Hawthorne, there comes a vast history of living and working locally. Larramendy said that his life has come full circle, having his own tire store.

“I’ve worked in Hawthorne for 13 years, dealing tires and concentrating on big mining equipment with tires that cost upwards of $30,000 or more each, but branching into this location I can still maintain national fleet accounts while servicing our local clients with their needs.”

Along with tires, Great Basin Tire will offer brake service, batteries, oil changes and basic service prevention for local vehicles. With a staff of six, once they are fully staffed, there will be no problem having one to two service people available to conduct overall assistance for local residents and out of town vehicles. Larramendy has brought his commitment of providing quality service and will be using industry personal that have solid experience to meet the needs of this community.

The primary tire supplier will be Goodyear, but all brands can be ordered. Larramendy and his wife, Karry, will be more than happy to accommodate any questions and concerns in an honest manner, by taking care of your basic vehicle needs.

“This location will be more than a retail store; it will be our main office for maintaining commercial business also. We know tires, so we will assist a broad group of needs, including RV’s to tractors and anything in-between.”

The Larramendy family includes six kids, with two of them still at home. In 13 years of marriage they have seen many changes in Hawthorne, but they have the desire to contribute locally in a business that can assist the public locally. Larramendy expressed that this is their community, their school system and their life’s hub, so it’s a wonderful transition to open a storefront on a major street in Hawthorne.

The Larramendy family and friends extend into many areas within this county, with several of them joining Great Basin Tires as employees. The staff can be reached by calling 775-945-9057 or email at: greatbasintire@yahoo.com or you are encouraged to stop by.
