Cecil came out to participate in some seasonal fun as Hawthorne presented a community Parade of Lights, Friday, Dec. 4.
With head-lighted Santa hats, the local Girl Scouts glowed as they proudly wore their sashes donned over heavy winter jackets. Chris Nepper revealed the Mineral County family float, complete with wrapped presents and decorated Christmas trees.
The Mt. Grant Hospital float was packed with joyous smiles as they loudly cheered and waved at the bystanders enjoying the parade. The Souled Out group presented the Awana’s kids who marched with lights in their gloved hands. P & P Hair Designs sponsored their float of lights, corralling all their workers with laughter and fun.
Local families were bundled up along E Street, creating an excitement to the winter season celebrations. Along with the parade, the town Christmas tree burst into lights, as Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by Veteran’s Park to greet the community children, while gathering their Christmas lists.
Hot chocolate warmed the outdoor visitors, while Christmas carols filled the night sky. The Coalition of Mineral County, the Hawthorne Lions Club and the Young Citizens Activity Center combined their efforts to create a magical holiday kickoff.
