When a handful of “Daisies” arrived at Lion’s Park on Wednesday, June 3, it was their scout leader, Audrey Merritt giving them advice on picking up trash around the playground area.
As plastic gloves and trash bags were given to each child, Anna Lee Merritt spoke up to say, “This will help all the plants and keep it safer and nicer when we come to play.”
Besides the teaching lesson of helping out the community, other aspects of the Girl Scout program was highlighted. Merritt explained that the girls learn teamwork, leadership and the ability to do the right thing.
“The girls that participated not only have fun on these projects, they feel better about themselves for making a difference,” said assistant leader Tanya Walker.
The girls earned a fun patch for the activity and they made the park a little bit better.
