The Mineral County rodeo arena will be undergoing a change, as Mike Trujillo, Mineral County Public Works director met with the board of county commissioners to discuss naming the facility in honor of the late Troy Madraso, who was a dedicated and avid horseman and spent hours at the corrals and arena with his family and friends.
Madraso passed away on Nov. 16. He had been active in rodeoing throughout his youth and had a passion for team roping, more specifically as the heeler.
As he grew older, Madraso would pass his love of team roping onto his daughter Gabby, who is this year’s Reno Rodeo Queen and an avid team roper (and Troy’s favorite go-to header).
Trujillo met with other members of the Mineral County Horseman’s Association to make this possible and stated in the meeting that he had the support of Troy’s family.
