Radius Gold, a Canadian owned company, recently staked 122 contiguous federal mining claims in the historic Walker Lane Gold Trend area in Mineral County.

The claims cover approximately 992 hectares in the historic Aurora mining district, the Borealis mine and the historic Bodie mining camp in neighboring California.

A statement from Radius Gold states, “The gold deposits in the Aurora-Borealis-Bodie district occur as both high grade vein-hosted low sulphidation deposits (Aurora, Bodie) and as high-sulphidation alunite-kaolinite gold-deposits (Borealis).”

The approximate historical production along this trend from mid-19th century to mid-1990’s has been estimated at 4.0 million ounces of gold and 11.2 million ounces of silver.

The area is referred to as the ABC Property, Aurora-Borealis Corridor.

Radius Gold has also begun prospecting approximately six kilometers southeast of the open pit mine at Aurora. This project is referred to as the Spring Peak Property.

The Spring Peak Property is believed to host subvertical high-grade gold veins similar to that in the Aurora area. A geophysical survey will be conducted.
