David Vanbuskirk 36, a native Nevadan passed away July 22. He was employed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and embodied every sense of the word hero.

David was preceded in death by his father Red and brother, Michael. David is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Adriana; his mother Pat; sister Jenny; Randy and Shannon Gurulè; Tana, Dustin, Sara, Tori, Courtney, Alana, Scott, Eric, Shawn and Chase and grandmother Geraldine Gurulè.

David was employed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 1999 and joined the Search and Rescue team in 2007. Within the Search and Rescue team, David provided support as the Mountain rescue team leader and Tactical medic for LVMPD SWAT.

David saved many lives and took pride in being able to do so, he loved his family and friends immensely. He had a fabulous sense of humor and showed love to everyone. David will always be remembered as a man of integrity, honesty and great courage.

His life cannot be summed up in a few lines, but will be greatly missed by family and friends.

David leaves many great memories to a family that loves so very much. He was the epitome of what a true husband, son, brother and uncle should be. Not a day will go by that we won’t miss his sense of humor and penchant for inserting a quick-witted comment at just the right moment. It is these memories of him that we will cherish until we join him.
