They said it was a cold that made Joe Biden look incapacitated during the debate, just as they earlier said videos of his decrepitness were “cheapfakes” and that behind closed doors he doesn’t look and act like an old man on his last legs.
This line of defense is becoming, pardon the pun, old.
Offensive, even.
After the horrendous debate performance, everyone knows Mr. Biden is not the man his campaign says he is. He is severely diminished. The Hur report – from Mr. Biden’s own Justice Department – confirmed that.
People who know him, who work with him, know this and fail to do the right thing.
Jill Biden, the president’s wife, is the No. 1 elder-abuse culprit in the Great Biden Hoax. That’s followed by Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, Ron Klain, Gen. Lloyd Austin, Xavier Becerra, Jennifer Granholm, Alejandro Mayorkas, Marcia Fudge, Deb Haaland, Merrick Garland, Antony Blinken, Pete Buttigieg, Janet Yellen, John Kerry, Samantha Power and anyone with close contact with the president.
The newest CBS poll out after the debate shows more voters think Mr. Biden does not have the cognitive health to be president. It was 65% before the debate, now it’s 72%. Jayzus, ladies and gentlemen, 72% of voters say Mr. Biden doesn’t have the cognitive health to be president!
This, I assure you, scares the pants off of down-ticket Democrats in Nevada and elsewhere. Biden was already a liability for the vulnerable first-term incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen. Now the Biden campaign is sending substitutes to Nevada. Recently they sent the crazy and off-putting New York Congresscritter Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Las Vegas to – what? – remind us how evil Jews and Israel are in committing genocide in Gaza. I’m sure that did a lot of good for Sen. Rosen, who is Jewish.
The AP reports this week that the top ranks of the Democratic Party are none too happy with the Biden campaign, saying the campaign continues to downplay how devastating the debate was for Mr. Biden.
In a call with the Democratic National Committee last week, members of the committee who were granted anonymity by the AP “described feeling like they were being gaslighted — that they were being asked to ignore the dire nature of the party’s predicament.”
We’ll get some good post-debate polling by the time you read this. If the numbers don’t change much, maybe the party sticks with their “Weekend At Bernie’s” candidate. But, remember, Mr. Biden is already slightly behind in the polls. In Nevada he’s significantly down. If he ticks down further, the Party will have to switch him out or face – as former President Obama once called it – a “schellacking” in November.
That’s how I’m seeing it. Am I going wrong?
CAN DEMOCRATS SWITCH?
I believe they can switch, even though the primaries have been held, and still get the new name on the ballot. Republicans in Nevada would likely challenge the move, but the folks I read say they’d lose the challenge. Still, that’s an interesting question.
BIDEN’S HANDICAP
I must add one thing this week. During the debate, Mr. Biden claimed to be a 6 handicap golfer. It’s not impossible that a person of his age can score well enough to support a 6 handicap. I know a lot of older golfers, teeing off from the proper tee boxes, who can still stripe it down the middle, hit greens in regulation and two putt with ease.
But, I am compelled as your faithful Nevada journalist sworn to tell the truth, there is no way on gawd’s green earth Mr. Biden is a 6 handicap golfer. We’ve all seen him “old-man” steps and struggle mightily to simply get out of a chair. I doubt he could tee-up a ball by himself, much less shoot in the 70s.
Donald Trump called him on it and said he doubted Joe Biden could hit the ball 50 yards, which I bring up only to tell you that I once saw Mr. Trump on the driving range at Southern Highlands in Las Vegas.
He can play, as I remember. But, the one thing that stuck in my mind about that day is how the gusty Vegas winds blew off his hat and caught his comb-over hair as I shook his hand.
I tried not to look, but I couldn’t. It was a sight to behold.
So, I thank Mr. Biden for lying about your golf handicap because it gave me the chance to get my one and only Trump encounter out of my reporter’s notebook.
