Properly Subversive
Attention Trump haters: If you’re rooting for a conviction in Georgia against the ex-president on state election interference charges, you may want to slow your roll … just a little.
The District Attorney in Fulton County bringing the charges has an embarrassing problem on her hands. It seems D.A. Fani Willis hired a lawyer to prosecute the case who not only seems eminently unqualified – he’s never prosecuted a felony case – he’s also her freakin’ boyfriend.
And, to further muddy the waters, the boyfriend appears to have taken Ms. Fani on multiple vacations.
If this were a Hollywood script it would be rejected on grounds no one is that stupid. Yet, these are precisely the allegations and they have some evidence supporting them. Even the oft-lazy mainstream media – the New York Times, the Atlanta Constitution-Journal and the Associated Press – can’t ignore this mess.
While Ms. Willis has yet to address the allegations that she is, in fact, romantically linked with her Trump prosecutor, associates who have known the two told reporters that they have been seen in public snuggling.
And, last Friday credit card statements included in a filing in the prosecutor’s divorce case show that he purchased airline tickets for himself and Ms. Willis on April 25, 2023, for a trip from Atlanta to San Francisco, and on Oct. 4, 2022, for a trip to Miami.
At the same time, the Fulton County Commission in a letter has demanded documents from Ms. Willis to determine whether county funds paid to the boyfriend prosecutor “were converted to your personal gain in the form of subsidized travel or other gifts.”
Jayzus, could Fani have really been that stupid? Stay tuned. We’re about to find out.
SPARKS LAND
The more Nevada land wrestled away from the federal government, the better. So, kudos to Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-NV, for introducing a bill that would release over 15,000 acres of federal land east of Sparks for private purchase and development.
The bill has the support from Sparks Mayor Ed Lawson, Washoe County commission chair Alexis Hill, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, Reno-Sparks Indian Colony chairman Daryl D. Gardipe and conservation groups such as Friends of Nevada Wilderness and the Nevada Wildlife Federation.
In a rare admission for a Democrat, Rosen says the bill will help reduce home prices “at a time when inflation is already hurting Nevada families.”
She’s dead right on that. High inflation under the Biden Administration’s tenure has hurt all Nevadans. Democrats working on the Biden re-election campaign tell us that the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris ticket is “working to lower costs for hardworking families.” The truth is they, by their woke policies, have brought the high costs upon us.
All I can say is they better hope Nevadans don’t go to the grocery store and the gas station on their way to the polls next November.
WOKE IMMIGRATION
It is a woke principle to let every immigrant pass freely into the United States and then try like hell to keep them out of the hands of ICE no matter what bad things they may do. Consider the Haitian man who crossed the southern border illegally, was initially deemed inadmissible, but then allowed to go free with a request to report for a future court date.
Last September, Boston police arrested him for the rape of a disabled person. ICE filed a detainer request with local authorities, seeking his custody, but the request was ignored on purpose thanks to woke local officials, and the accused rapist was allowed to walk free among the unsuspecting community.
It took another week for ICE to track him down and put him behind bars.
This is no way to run a county.
