Properly Subversive
Hamas sealed its own fate with this month’s brutal attack on Israel. In the pantheon of human depravity, Hamas now must be put on the same shelf as the Greater German Reich in the ‘30s and ‘40s.
If you are Hamas, then you must be treated like a Nazi war criminal in the world community. If you support Hamas – as some American liberals do – then you must be treated with all the revulsion previously reserved for Hitler sympathizers.
I’m writing this a week after the Hamas attack on innocent civilians. By the time you read it in print, it will have been two weeks. So far, Israel has shown restraint, telling innocent Palestinians in Gaza to clear the area. I hope the innocent do get out of harm’s way, because Israel – and good on them for articulating this goal clearly – will seek out and end all members of Hamas and its ability to function as terrorist organization in Gaza. That will mean house-to-house fighting along every street. For the next few months it will be no place for the innocent.
BAD INSTINCTS
The Hamas attack has also flushed out the horrible instincts of the Biden Administration’s policy in the Middle East.
A day after Hamas attacked Israel, Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted out a post in which he said the U.S. supports a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Specifically, he wrote: “Turkish Foreign Minister @HakanFidan and I spoke further on Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel. I encouraged Türkiye’s advocacy for a cease-fire and the release of all hostages held by Hamas immediately.”
Remember, this is before Israel took any action to defend itself. Well, as you can imagine, that sentiment didn’t age well. President Joe Biden (apparently waking up from his afternoon nap) said WTF to his staff and made it clear that the U.S. stands “rock-solid” behind Israel and supported, not a cease fire, but a full-on military campaign to rid Israel of the Hamas threat.
Blinken took his tweet down (and I hope stuck it up his arse), but not before it raised serious questions about who is really driving the bus inside the White House. Does one hand of the Biden Administration’s foreign policy know what the other is doing? Is there a clear policy?
After a tweet like that, you gotta wonder.
SOUTHERN BORDER
On a related issue a little closer to home for Nevadans, the surprise attack on Israel by Hamas ought to serve as a wake up call to fix the migrant crisis along the Mexican border.
We don’t know who has come across our border. All we know for sure is that Joe Biden fibs when he says the border is “secure.” Anyone with eyes can see it is absolute chaos.
When the FBI is asked if anyone on the terrorism watch list has slipped into the county, the FBI – quite appropriately – says “no comment.” But FBI Director Christopher Wray acknowledged that there has been an increase in domestic threats since the attacks in Israel.
Here is the truth: Terrorists live among us. Hamas sympathizers – people who believe Jews and Americans are fair game to kill – live among us in surprising numbers. The FBI is on top of it as much as they can be on top of it. In the meanwhile, stay vigilant. If you see something, say something.
GREATNESS
With all that said, please take care to not get sucked into the thinking of those who seek to silence pro-Hamas rallies. I don’t like the rallies, but the right to peaceably assemble and to speak a grievance is in the American DNA. It’s a baby and bathwater kind of principle, and it’s important to always — ALWAYS — preserve.
