The Mineral County Chamber of Commerce (MCNV Chamber) and member business partners are holding a free job workshop on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 1942 USO Building/Convention Center, 950 E Street in Hawthorne, Nevada.
This workshop will benefit teens and college graduates entering the job market for the first time or those reentering for various reasons. Attendees will gain new insight into employers’ current expectations and come away with the resources for a successful job hunt.
Topics to be covered include: Overview of the Current Job Market; Job Boards and Resources for Employment; Social Media Pitfalls; How to Dress for Success; Successful Resume Writing and Resources; Interview with Confidence; and, Community Chest College, Trade and Tech School Funding Opportunities.
Gloria Lopez, MCNV Chamber president was very surprised to learn the effects social media can have on a job seeker’s success.
“In today’s job market, employers will check potential employee’s social media platforms,” says Denise Ferguson, CEO of Mt. Grant General Hospital (MGGH), one of the professionals presenting the workshop along with MGGH Human Resources team member Hunter Bolonos.
The two afternoon sessions involve breaking into smaller groups for a more personal experience. Thirty-five (35) spots are available for the workshop. The workshops are open to all Mineral County residents including those attending public and higher education schools either in-person or on-line.
