The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection – Bureau of Air Pollution Control (BAPC) has entered the public notice period for the two renewals of, three minor revisions to, and five Class I Air Quality Operating Permit to Construct (OPTC) rollovers to Class I Air Quality Operating Permit for the Department of the Army – Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD).
The public comment period is from February 3, 2023, through March 6, 2023.
The BAPC has reviewed the application and has made a preliminary determination to issue a renewed, revised, and OPTC roll-over permit for the HWAD facility, located in Mineral County, approximately 7 miles northwest of Hawthorne, Nevada. The HWAD facility is a 144,441-acre compound with operations supporting handling, storage, shipment, destruction, and related testing of military ammunition, weapons and materials.
The proposed project will not cause or contribute to a violation of any federal or State of Nevada air quality standards.
