Millie Babb McCarthy
In the early morning hours of May 22, 2018, just shy of her 91st birthday, Millie Babb McCarthy passed from this life into the next. Millie was born May 26, 1927 in Fallon to Verne and Irene (Fisk) Babb. Mom lived in Fallon from 1927 to 1932 when the family moved to Tonopah. In 1942 the family moved again, this time to Hawthorne where she graduated from Mineral County High School. Millie was preceded in death by her husband Kevin of Reno; daughter Frances (Baptiste) of Las Vegas; brothers Robert and William of Hawthorne and Richard of West Point, Calif.; sister Carolyn (Cheatham) of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
She is survived by her daughter Kathleen of Sparks and son Sean of Reno. She had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Millie was a familiar face at Long’s Pharmacy in the Village Shopping Center in Reno where she worked for many years. We will always remember the love, laughter and smiles she brought into our lives. We look back on the summers of fun as we headed to the lake with family and friends for swimming and waterskiing. We’ll remember mom’s love for travel. As soon as she returned from one trip she would begin planning for the next one.
She had an amazing zest for life and shared it with all who knew her. In Millie’s honor may we all carry on her spirit!
