Summer is here and with that comes dreaded road work. Mineral County residents were delayed this week as Sierra Nevada Construction began chip sealing A Street from Armory Road to O Street and F Street from 1st to 5th Streets in Hawthorne.

“Secure Rural Schools and regional transportation commission helped to fund this project and due to the wet weather, has had to be rescheduled three times. The next grant cycle for funding for roads will be in two to three years,” Mineral County Public Works Director Eric Hamrey told the Independent-News.

Crack sealing in Mina, Luning and Walker Lake will begin when the weather is cooler.
