After a number of years and promises from various healthcare agencies, there will finally be a solution to the growing substance abuse crisis in the rural areas surrounding Reno. Brooks Behavioral Health center, based out of Las Vegas, has kept its promise to open an office in Northern Nevada and will be celebrating its grand opening in Hawthorne on June 16.

Their office is located at 420 3rd Street, Suite C in Hawthorne. The owner and business entrepreneur Devin Brooks commented, “I know the conversations about these types of services coming to rural Northern Nevada are often discussed in negative tones, and I’m so pleased that we are finally able to change that narrative. It’s been a long time coming, but it was important that we get it right.”

Despite the longer than anticipated timeline, Brooks has not been idle. They have established relationships with a number of government agencies and hospitals to create a seamless process for potential recipients. When the agency first opens its doors, it will provide those in need with individual, group and family therapy sessions, augmented by full case management services.

This new resource in healthcare is desperately needed as the situation in Nevada is reaching epidemic proportions. Cities do have providers to serve their populations, albeit insufficient to their needs, but rural populations are often neglected.
