Janeen Clark

Mineral County Assessor Candidate

My name is Janeen Clark and I am a candidate to become your next Mineral County Assessor.

I was employed in the Assessor’s office from Nov. 5, 2001 until March 12, 2009. During those years I studied, I observed and I worked hard to go from an entry level position to that of being the second in charge as chief deputy assessor. I have done appraising, budgets, ran reports both at the local and state level, I’ve done data entry and billing for the many types of accounts; essentially if it is a duty of the office I have at one time or another done it.

When I first interviewed for the assessor’s office in 2001 I was asked two questions; 1. Why should we hire you and 2. Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, or even 20 years? My answers were simple and they went hand in hand. I am a hard worker, quick learner who is willing to learn new and challenging things, and I’m not afraid to ask for help or offer my assistance. I want to learn as much as I can and hopefully in 10 or 20 years take over the office and keep it running smoothly and efficiently. At the time I was half kidding about taking over, but the more I worked there the more I knew that I wanted to run the office. Fast forward 17 years and not much has changed. I am still a hard worker, I am still eager to learn and be able to teach what I know and I still have the desire to run the Assessor’s office smoothly and efficiently.

I was certified in general appraising  as well as in personal property and real property; upon returning to work in the assessor’s office I will start the process to become recertified.

I am sure that I do not need to tell you that over the last few years the office has become neglected, understaffed, and struggling to meet requirements. I am not here to place blame but to assure you that I am confident in my abilities to do this job effectively and to be able to return the office to the standards that citizens of Mineral County deserve.

I thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to answering any questions you might have.
